Wear it both Ways

We all had a crush growing up.  Hers was Uncle Jesse from Full House, His, was also Uncle Jesse from Full House. 

Well step aside Mr. Katsopolis, we have a new crush, and it’s every shade of blue!  Our favorite is mixing highs and lows through mixed fabrication (chambray, denim and oxford, oh my).  As we’ve grown up our taste in love and clothing has changed.  So call up Kate Bosworth and tell her to drop the mismatched printed swimsuit; we’re having a blue crush!

HIS/HERS - Old Navy Pride 2011 T-shirts

During a recent ill-fated dinner at a local restaurant (meals arrived 3 hours late, wine arrived continuously) Mine + Yours took advantage of the unseasonably warm SF weather by slipping into some beautiful jewel tones.  His was a saturated mix of orange and red, Hers a sophisticated blend of warms with cobalt.  Although you basically had to wear a crown to get any service, we felt perfectly prepped and primped for this dinner with friends!

Working is HARD.  So we slipped away from the office last week for a relaxing Friday lunch.  A Caesar salad and glass(es) of wine later, we felt rested and rejuvenated!  Here’s what we wore: layers of classic hues – navy, white, beige and red, all colors on speed dial in our closet!

You don’t have to go back to school to learn that the weather by the Bay is super finicky; one minute it’s sunny, and the next there’s a sea of fog.  It’s because of the SF weather that we have become experts at layering up for anything, and why any two people can be dressed in a completely different way.  Her look was sunny and crisp, His was darker and built-up.  However you prepare, nobody is going to send you to see Mr Belding, the best part is: they both work!

During our latest trip over to Maiden Lane (the premier SF shopping area) we wanted to look chic and layered to guard against the breeze, but also casual and comfortable so we could have free range of motion to lunge towards sale product if needed!  We were looking for pieces with a subtle hint of detail to make them feel special and to compliment our looks (a la the mixed print on Her scarf & the wooden toggles on His sweater).  It’s accents like these that kept our outfits easy, breezey and ready for anything!

Don’t ever be afraid to explore new territory, especially when it comes to one of the favorite pieces in our closet: a blazer!  Make your own path using separates in poppy new colors (Kate Middleton, why won’t you call us back?), or stick to the preppy classics, we did.  Be sure to pair with denim or one of this seasons biggest trends, the colored pant to make sure things don’t get too serious, then top off using interesting accessories and shoes!

Cable cars are the traditional San Francisco treat, so why shouldn’t cable sweaters be the same in your closet? They’re perfect for the finicky SF weather, being seasonless, layerable and you can find them in any color your heart desires.  Just don’t leave it in San Francisco ;)
