HIS + HERS are finally reunited in where else but NYC (hello shopping MECCA!!) and while we have been insanely busy with work during the day (please forgive us for the blog blackout) we made sure not to miss Banana Republic’s Spring/Summer ‘12 presentation last night in the Chelsea Arts Tower. The setting was stunning with panoramic views of the city and gorgeous models donning beautiful pieces from BR’s upcoming collection. The live band was playing Bossa Nova and the waiters (who we are convinved were models too) were serving a plethora of delicious small bites and champagne - our rocket fuel!!
The inspiration behind the collection was Ipanema - imagine bold florals, textural lace, and subtle metallics for women and drapey linen safari jackets, crisp wovens and bermuda shorts for men. All the looks were grounded in rich neutrals with an elegant, tailored finish that is quintessential BR. We cannot wait to shop this collection and create our own South American vibe up in herrrrre :)
This week and next, HIS + HERS have been ripped from each others arms for various important trips, including visits home and travel for work.
And although for every moment we are apart, a small glowing petal falls off of a wilting flower that we keep under a glass container, we are managing as best we can. Even if that means learning how to use the phone. For an actual call. Is that how you pronounce that?

Ok, so we’re still learning. But have no fear, we will find a way to continue posting to fill the void ! We have each other’s numbers on speed dial. Right below Bloomingdale’s.

In a post last week, we mentioned that we were able to partner with fab photographer Anthony Deeying, Ford Models Danica and Ty, as well as hair and makeup artists Sarah Jordan and Danielle Hutton for one the most epic styling shoots ever (using clothes from our own wardrobe!). Essentially, Danica and Ty were to be the more in-shape, fresh-faced, two-sizes-smaller, actual model versions of His + Hers, showing off the clothes we know and love.
We told them that they were in for a preppier wardbrobe, in-line with our style here at Wearitbothways; but what we did not tell them is that the style would be …
SEXY CAMPING!!!
Translation: We went for a sexy “bare but covered up” sort of vibe, paired with a woodsy, rustic feel. Think chunky mens sweaters in fairisle and navajo prints, anchored in darker bottoms … all paired back to lots of leg. (It matches everything.) So we packed up, and the team headed out to the wilderness, here are the final results!

Here, we enjoyed the way Ty’s plaid played off of the ombre pattern in his sweater. And believe it or not, she is wearing a pair of HIS pants ! Hey, when you’re surviving out there in the wilderness, it’s every gal for herself.

HERS - Shirt: Banana Republic, Pants: Zara (HIS), Shoes: Pour La Victoire

We loved the unexpected twist that this turban brought to Danica’s outfit ! And surprisingly, that is a sweater vest from HIS closet. Somebody clearly went shopping in HIS tent.

HERS - Sweater: J Crew (HIS), Skirt: Pleasure Doing Business, Turban: American Apparel

For this outfit, we really responded to these specific plaids. The amount of lightness hashed through worked to pop the pattern from underneath these heavier, more overt sweaters. And once again, she is working a woven and sweater from HIS closet! Actually, we don’t think Danica packed anything for this camping trip at all.

The completed modeling card.

Call us.

Our last look ended up being chosen entirely in the moment! We felt inspired to create a look that would elevate the style towards something more sleek and sultry. We channeled black, leather, and an intense shade of blue for a more nighttime appropriate vibe. Besides, after all of that sexy camping, we decided it was time to let the models go out for a swanky dinner :)

Overall, we had an amazing time on this shoot watching our visions come to life and can’t wait for our next styling event!
Huge thanks to all that helped!

During our recent photo shoot (love affair) with Gap Mag, we asked one of the contributors to sneakily take a couple photos on our own (broken, pink) camera relic, so we could put up a sneak peak post before the real deal! Here are a couple pics that she grabbed along the way.
We’ll share more with you as the airbrushing proccess is completed!

This playground is the closest we’ve been to children in years.

It is paramount that you stick your neck out like a turtle to avoid any posibility of the forbidden double chin. HIS is walking around the city like this, just to be sure.

Capturing some close-up pics of HERS amazing necklace!

Channeling a night-time sort of vibe in neons + black under the Broadway Tunnel. We used the buddy system so neither of us would get lost :)
Thanks for peeking with us,
HIS + HERS

While the Proenza Schouler PS1 Bag might be HER dream bag, J Crew’s Darlington Satchel is much kinder on the bank account without comprising the quality or biker chic details of her pricey high fashion counterpart!
Sometimes it just feels right to SAVE…
Why thank you!!! Wait until you see our HIS + HERS matching Clark Kent costumes for Halloween ;)

Few things are as satisfying as completely revamping your closet & this is a slice of the end result…
Obsessive? NOT.A.CHANCE.
Our love affair with nautical stripes will forever live on!!
Last week, WearitbothWays was breathing into a paper bag upon the realization that our J Crew San Francisco store would be closed for a full week in order to make some sort of updates to their space.
At first, we were horrified. Then, we sat down on a bench in front of the (closed) store, had a spritzer, composed ourselves, and created a game plan. We would return the following week to ensure that we were among the first guests to see the improved J Crew. Below is our account! We hope you enjoy … they basically had to kick us out.

Oh no, we were waiting for YOU.

The new format actually spans two FULL retail spaces, so there are two entrances, and more window space for us to fog up.

Here is the new Men’s space. Finally, some room for HIS to shop! The previous layout had him traipsing to the crowded back of the store where the markdowns were sometimes next to (sometimes touching) the beautiful new product.
Happily, the new format actually allows for a fully functioning suiting shop (which feels special and lends credibility), as well as enough table space to really showcase the product (hellooo sweaters!). Which HIS proceeded to lay on top of. What, that’s what cashmere is for.

Surprisingly for us, the new Crew Cuts section was actually our favorite part! This product + aesthetic lends an even quirkier sort of vibe to the adult product which is becoming ever-more refined. Yes, let’s get some owls up in here, yes some tiny, freaking adorable cable knit sweaters, and paramount to this entire strategy: baby sized Purcells They are BABY SIZED!

Women’s, as always, was on point and layered to perfection, carrying what appeared to be the mainline selection, with some interesting build-out styles to fill in all of the extra space. Of which there was mucho. There was definitely an open, airier vibe to this store vs the previous. The flooring is lighter, and instead of an army of stylized mannequin half-forms filling up cabinet space, there were sleek, decorative vases and frames.
We are torn about how open and easy it is to shop here now. Gone, are the days where we would run in after work, elbow our way to the style we wanted (rip it out of a customer’s hand) and bump our way towards the cashwrap. Definitely less cozy, more streamlined in this new store.

And what trip would be complete without souvenirs? Initially, we tried to fit into an array of Crew Cuts sizes, but the results were mixed, and we were banished back into the adult section.
Overall, we were immensely impressed with the space, including the suiting shop, super cute Crew Cuts space, and Women’s specialty product, but longing for a bit of the coziness of the previous store, which we’re hoping will resurface a bit as the Holiday season begins to swing!
The stores on either side of this upgrade better be shaking in their Hunters … we’re ready for a J Crew anchor store, and we are not afraid to write to Mickey.
Cheers!
HIS + HERS

We love all the suits: Spades, Clubs, Diamonds (especially diamonds) and Hearts. But now there’s a new kid in the deck…the Fall Suit. This one is new on the scene and incorporates fall shades of yellow and tweed-ier fabrics for a luxe sort of feel. Clearly yellow is the IT color at the moment but we love wearing it all year long. Luckily there is a yellow for everybody and every season!

Wearitbothways was SO excited when asked to raid GAP’s sample closet to pick our favorite pieces from their Holiday collection. We were up for the challenge and dove in shopping bags first! We styled them using pieces from Gap past, and present (and a few other brands along the way). More to come of HIS + HERS three favorite Holiday looks.
GAP + Wearitbothways = A Merry ‘Ole Time!
Welcome to class! Last weekend, Wear it both Ways embarked on its first ever styling shoot in San Francisco, using clothes from our own closets. In many ways, it was like our first day of class. We met our new teacher (our fab photographer) made some new friends (Danica + Ty from Ford Models) played hookie (we had to grab snacks and pins!) and overall, did a LOT of studying.
We are overwhelmingly excited about entering the world of styling, and can’t wait to explore the possibilities of what this year will bring. Below is a preview of what we were able to snap on the sly, but real photos will be available next week!

Please reach out to Wearitbothways@gmail.com if you are interested in leveraging HIS+HERS for any styling needs, we’ll make you look like you’ve graduated with flying colors :)

Since HIS + HERS aren’t real models (why do people keep saying that?!) we were jazzed that we were given the opportunity to shoot three of our favorite looks in a real studio, with a real makeup artist, a real hair stylist, real photographer, AND luxurious spread of snacks (re: tiny bowl of blueberries). We can’t wait to show you the fruits of our labor sometime next week! The magic of Anthony Deeying photography (ie: heavy airbrushing) are definitely going to take these posts to the next level.
Stay tuned!

After a week full of meetings and late hours, nobody should let HIS + HERS get this close to a wall of wine, but they should let us play off of each other’s looks. Brownish greens and plaids are perfect for Fall because they carry a woodsy sort of Holiday feel, AND are the perfect shade for masking wine spills. The white woven and denim? We bring shout wipes for that.

We WISH! Have you seen these tans? Our South Park is in SF. We’ll keep its estranged twin in SD on our radar if we ever make it down. Thanks for the recommendation!

When you find something that works, stick with it. Favorite wines (anything white. or red.), favorite movies (every time Titanic is on TV we have to watch the ENTIRE THING), and especially favorite pants. These “denim washed khakis” from Gap’s current collection feel super new (have you seen something like this anywhere else?) and the fit is spot on. When HIS tried on the first pair, they felt like a jean. Er, dream. Oh, and so did the second. And third.

Hi there, good question! We’re friends, and have worked together for years. The chemistry comes from a fine blend of fashion and champagne! Which we are constantly surrounded by. Thanks for following!
